Discovering The Well-Fed Life & The life behind a black private chef in CA
— A Journey with Chef Ty Stanford
Welcome to The Well-Fed Life, our shall i say The life behind a black private chef in CA-a sacred little corner of the internet where I share the heart behind the food I create — and the practices that keep me nourished in and out of the kitchen.
I’ve spent the past few years cooking for others: private dining experiences, Sunday meal preps, catered events, pop-ups, and soulful celebrations. But recently, I’ve felt the call to pull back the curtain and share more of the why — the rhythms, rituals, and recipes that shape the way I live, cook, and serve.
What is the Well-Fed Life?
To me, the well-fed life is about more than just what’s on your plate.
It’s about creating a lifestyle rooted in nourishment — through food, yes, but also through intention, rest, beauty, ancestral practices, and joy. It’s about returning to what sustains us.
It’s a question I often come back to: What do I need to feel well-fed today?
Is it a comforting seasonal dish? A long walk? An organized kitchen? A good laugh? A deep breath before serving 20 guests?
This blog is where I’ll explore that question — and all the ways I answer it.
What You’ll Find Here
Whether you’re a client, fellow chef, home cook, or just someone looking for inspiration, I want this blog to be a resource and a rhythm. Here’s what you can expect:

A behind-the-scenes look at the seasonal ingredients I’m loving and the menus I’m curating for clients each month.
• Kitchen Practices & Event Prep
How I get ready for private dining experiences and events — from grocery hauls and playlists to mindset rituals.
• Wellness Through Food
From batch prep tips to grounding herbal infusions, I’ll share the nourishing practices that support my creativity and wellbeing as a working chef.
• Stories & Community
I’ll also be writing about my journey as a woman navigating entrepreneurship, healing, creative burnout, and joy — all through the lens of food.
• My booking Processes (That Don’t Feel Salesy)
You’ll still find helpful content that supports my business — like booking tips, client menu breakdowns, and sneak peeks into upcoming ebooks.
Let’s Talk About Food, Together
This isn’t just a place for me to write — it’s a place for us to connect. I’d love to hear from you in the comments:
What makes you feel well-fed lately?
Is there a recipe, a ritual, a cultural dish, or a memory that keeps you nourished?
Leave a comment or share your own version of the well-fed life. Let’s build a space rooted in flavor, truth, and community.
Stay tuned for next week’s post where I’ll be sharing my go-to spring ingredients and what’s currently inspiring my seasonal menus. I'm still coming up with a posting schdyele but for now stay tuned
Until then,
Chef Ty
